Frequently Asked Questions

Buying original art from someone you haven't met deserves clear answers. If yours isn't here, write to me at Hello@sarahlapislazuli.art. I reply within 48 hours.

paintings

Are the paintings original?

Yes. Every painting is an original, hand-painted by me in acrylic on canvas, and each one is one of one. Each original comes with a certificate of authenticity. Selected works are also available as prints, produced in limited quantities, each with a numbered certificate

Is the colour on screen accurate?

I photograph every painting in natural light, but screens vary. Room visuals are illustrations to help you imagine the piece in a space; the studio photos show the painting as it is. If colour matters for your space, write to me and I'll send extra photos or a short video of the painting in daylight.

Can I see a painting before buying?

Of course, with no obligation. Write to me and I'll send extra photos or a video of the painting in daylight, or we can arrange a video call so I can show you the piece live.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated according to the size of the painting and the destination, and I confirm the exact cost with you before you pay. Sending a rolled canvas is considerably cheaper than a framed painting. For countries outside the EU, customs and import duties may apply.

Can you reserve a painting for me?

Yes. Write to me and I'll hold the painting for 7 days, so you have time to decide. I'll confirm the reservation by email.

How do I care for my painting?

Hang it away from direct sunlight, damp and heat sources such as radiators, kitchens and bathrooms, and never above a radiator. Dust it gently with a dry, soft cloth, and never use water or cleaning products on the surface. If you have any doubt, write to me and I'll advise you.

‍ ‍ Shipping

How is my painting packed?

I pack every painting myself with great care: acid-free tissue against the paint, protective layers around the frame, corner protectors, and a rigid box with foam wedging so the painting cannot move in transit. Larger paintings travel in a custom-made box or crate.

Is my painting insured and tracked?

Yes. Every painting is shipped insured and tracked. I send you the tracking number as soon as the parcel leaves my studio.

How can I pay?

Once you've told me which painting you'd like, I'll send you the payment details by email. You can pay by PayPal or by bank transfer, which I recommend for larger amounts. Your painting is reserved for you as soon as payment is received.

Where do you ship, and how long does it take?

I ship within the European Union, always insured and tracked. Your painting is packed and dispatched within 5 working days of payment, and delivery usually takes 3 to 7 working days depending on the destination. To reduce shipping costs, I can also send selected works rolled in a protective tube, without frame or stretcher, to Europe and beyond; you then have the canvas stretched and framed locally. For countries outside the EU, please write to me for a quote, as customs and import duties may apply.

What if my painting arrives damaged?

It is very rare, but if it happens, please photograph the package before opening it and the painting afterwards, keep all the packaging, and write to me within 48 hours. I'll handle the claim with the carrier and we will find a solution together, whether a repair or a refund.

‍ ‍ Payment‍ ‍

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, for paintings over €1,000, I'm happy to arrange payment in two instalments. Write to me and we'll agree on a schedule. The painting is shipped once the final payment is received.

Can I get an invoice for my company or interior design project?

Yes. Just send me your company details when you order and I'll issue an invoice. I also work with interior designers and architects, so feel free to write to me about your project.

‍ ‍Return

Can I return a painting?

Yes. You can return a painting within 14 days of receiving it, as long as it is in its original condition and packaging. Return shipping is at the buyer's expense, and I refund you in full once the painting has reached me safely. If you have any concern about a piece, please write to me first: I'd rather help you find the right painting.

‍ ‍Commissions

Do you accept commissions?

Yes, in a limited number each year. Each commission is a one-of-one original, painted in my universe of sea and light. Write to me with the size, the colours and the space it's for, and I'll send you a quote and a timeline. A deposit is required to begin, and I share progress photos along the way so you can approve the direction.

‍ ‍Prints

Do you sell prints?

Yes. Selected works are available as prints, each in a limited edition. Every print is numbered and comes with a certificate of numbering. You'll find them in the Prints section of the shop.
